Sometimes…
Max makes me feel like I wasn’t cut out for motherhood. He’s a bit of an energy vampire. Needy of my attention. Difficult to direct and redirect. CONSTANTLY looking for approval and praise.
I feel like I created a monster. His temper rivals any adult’s {though, he doesn’t break or physically hurt people or things – [...]

Mr. Max has been sick all week! He started running a low-grade temperature last night. It wasn’t high enough for me to worry or give him Tylenol. His cough is getting a little more flem. And he’s starting to get cranky. I think the crankiness is due more to being around me too much, rather [...]

Max woke last night with a nasty cough around 3am.
He stood at our door until I told him to go back to bed. I could hear loud, hoarse coughing that wasn’t easing up. Reluctantly, I dragged my sleep-deprived and heavier than usual body out of her light slumbering state to check in [...]

I’ve been struggling with how to write. I’ll start, get an entire paragraph accomplished, then decide it sounds too pretentious, too critical, boring, or it just doesn’t quite capture the point. I’m in a bit of a word funk, writer’s block, mind-stump place but life is still moving forward, leaving me grasping for the right [...]

i knew it was coming! you can not put your toddler in pre-school and avoid that little fucker, The Cold Virus. its 2pm, max is laid out on the couch watching tv. i join him for the movie because he asks. he’s cuddled under a lightweight blanket, soft pillow under head, with a 103.5 degree [...]

not a surprise to me, max is a bit cranky on his way home from pre-school every day. he was like this last year and the year before, too. he’s hungry and tired and has just spent the last three hours on his best behavior. those three hours at school are no doubt intense and [...]

enough time to relax and write, but not enough time to dive into reading school stuff – this is my wednesday during the three hours max is away from home. there is some cooking and playing with bella to be done, some surfing on the net and of-course, some snuggling.
bella visited her classroom for a [...]

Our weekend before school…
and my personal favorite…
i never thought i’d look forward to the first day of school this much. max had a ball with his new class, today, and bella didn’t want to leave with me when we dropped him off. she is going to have a lot of fun in her class, too. [...]

max is really into bakugans. he collects them. even has a special carrying case that holds ten toys along with their accompanying cards. this case is nearly filled and i’m expecting a second one will be requested soon. these are his special toys right now. the dinosaurs that he still loves but rarely plays with [...]

two more days until hal’s first full weekend off in a really long time, four more days until max’s first day of VPK, five more days until my first serious class, and six more days until bella’s first day of pre-school.
if it were possible to die from a cocktail of boredom and eagerness, i would [...]
