not a surprise to me, max is a bit cranky on his way home from pre-school every day. he was like this last year and the year before, too. he’s hungry and tired and has just spent the last three hours on his best behavior. those three hours at school are no doubt intense and [...]

enough time to relax and write, but not enough time to dive into reading school stuff – this is my wednesday during the three hours max is away from home. there is some cooking and playing with bella to be done, some surfing on the net and of-course, some snuggling.

hey, i love this being busy all day business! it reminds me of how life was before i developed rheumatoid arthritis. it seemed that everyday dad would tell me to slow down, have dinner with him, watch a movie, but i was always go_go_go. in chicago, same thing – hal and i constantly walked EVERYWHERE, [...]

I’ve been thinking a lot about what school I would like my children to go to. Then, I stopped. And I started to think about how being privileged affects how I think about my school choices for Max and Bella. Then, I decided I wasn’t going to stress about all the choices [...]

Max’s skin is broken-out with a rash like no other rash I’ve seen before. I think (read: I am seriously hoping) that it is a post stomach virus eczema flair up. I woke last night to the sound of nails on skin as he could not stop scratching layers of dermis off his body. It [...]

Trying. Trying so hard to get it right. Need to stop trying and just Do. Just accept when I don’t Do, and take the very next moment To Do.
Okay, enough with the choppy unexplainable sentences. They are explainable. I have been using our morning school day routine to practice Mindfulness. This time in particular comes [...]

Monday was Max’s meet-and-greet day at school. I met his new teacher(s) and LOVED them all. Plus, one of them is a friend of mine – a big plus there. I feel so lucky to have found this preschool. The classroom he’s in this year is bigger than the space he was in last year. [...]

One. Week. Left.
Max starts school in a week. I can not tell you how relieved I am about this. He is really in need of playmates and attention in a way that I can not fulfill. His energy level is through the roof and I’m always way low to the ground. Fortunately, Bella seems to [...]

Friday was Max’s “Spring Program,” at his preschool. His preschool keeps the same days as an elementary school which means school is out for summer break in about two weeks. Oh my gawd, this also means that I’m gonna have to start getting creative by the beginning of next month to keep my son active [...]
